According to a marriage certificate in my great aunt's possesion, James and Virgie married 20 Aug 1896 in Cassville, MO, both were of Carroll County, AR. E.C. Frost, Justice of the Peace, performed the wedding.
According to an onlite site, Barry County, Mo., Marriage Book H 1895-1897, Grooms: James and Virgie married 17 Feb 1897 in Barry Co., MO. E.C. Frost performed the wedding.
Right now, I have no way of knowing what date is correct. If not for the fact that the handwritten copy is the certificate of marriage, and the earlier date, I'd say that one date is the date the basically applied for the marriage license and the other is the actual date of marriage.

According to census information, James was born in 1862.
According to family information, James died 07 Apr 1911.
His death certificate has no date of death for him, but says that he was born 05 Jul with no year.
The death certificate also says that he was 49 years old 9 months and 5 days, which places his death 10 Apr 1912, if his year of birth is in fact 1862.
The death certificate has absolutely no information on his cause of death or burial place.
No one has been able to find a listing for him in any of the cemeteries in Collin County, TX.
It is possible that the undertaker was Ross or Russ McDanial Co.
